More About Otto
Otto is a very special dog with an amazing personality that loves people, (old and young), other dogs and cats! He is on a 4 month journey for a heart worm positive protocol. He is so worthy of the investment Col Potter is making to see him flourish because he will bring much joy to his forever family.

UPDATE 4/8/2025: Otto is the perfect dog!
Yes, we thought long and hard about whether that was an exaggeration. But it is not!
He’s a lovely terrier mix with just the right amount of “scruffy”… we think Cairn and a small Corgi. About 21 pounds, and does not shed. He’s full of love, love, love. Loves his people, and his love language is physical touch, craves cuddles, petting, and being close to you, In fact, he spends afternoon naps on my husband’s lap, periodically looking longingly into his eyes as if to say “yeah, this is a really good life!” He adores running and playing with dogs of all sizes, isn’t aggressive with cats, and has never met a child – of any age – who isn’t his best friend. Having watched him interact with our 12 grands and their dogs, we’ve concluded that he will thrive in very busy, active families.
Otto has been given two nicknames by our grands… “Mo” and “Dobby”. “Mo” because like some Corgis, he has a Mohawk, beginning with a pronounced patch of hair on his head – almost white – that runs down his spine to an ever happy tail. And “Dobby” because he has ears just like the male house-elf in Harry Potter. Both characteristics make him even more unique and lovable!
You ask about his backstory? He was given 5 days before being euthanized after being picked up in a small town in SC. Fortunately, the shelter knew he was special and they began calling other agencies to plead for them to take him in. Col Potter stepped up and at his first vet appointment learned that he was heart worm positive. Col Potter did not back down…they insisted the vet follow the American Heartworm Assoc.’s guidelines. and having gone through the tough, long treatment protocol, this little guy is ready for adoption!
We could not be happier for him and look forward to hearing how he blesses his new peeps!
