More About Dinar

Patience is the name of the game with pretty 4-year-old Dinar, who is starting to learn what life in a home entails. It’s full of strange things — a door! dinner in a bowl! a big yard! — and Dinar is the sort of sensitive girl who prefers to take everything one small step at a time.

There’s one thing that doesn’t faze her at all, however: climbing! Her favorite spots are on top of tables, chairs, even her crate. Maybe she has a future in agility?

For now, though, Dinar is learning that humans aren’t dangerous and, in fact, cuddles in her foster mom’s lap can be soothing. But it will take some time for her to understand the joy of playing and the satisfaction of sniffing along the neighborhood walks, so Dinar’s adoptive family will need to be patient with her. She will repay that patience with lots of love, we’re sure.

Updates

UPDATE 6/2/2024: Dinar has made good progress since she first came to Col Potter. She is still shy around people, but she is taking a new — and active — interest in life as a pet rather than simply a breeding dog. She has become more adventurous and confident. She joyfully joins the resident dogs in play, and accompanies one or another on reconnaissance missions around the yard.

Dinar is still a work in progress, but that just makes her all the more loveable. She is discovering what it means to be a part of a family, and she is learning how to communicate with her foster mom for good things.

Dinar is at the stage where she needs to form her bonds with a forever family who will encourage her development. She has a love of life; now she needs to find and love her forever person.

UPDATE 12/26/2023: The person who adopts Dinar will be part of a very special recovery for a former breeding girl. Dinar is healthy, smart, and good-looking, but somewhere along the way she lost (or never had?) a trusting relationship with a person. She is potty-trained, and crate-trained for meals, but a leash terrifies her and she never learned how to play.

Dinar needs very much to find her forever human companion, who has enough love and patience to show Dinar how to have a fulfilling life. The person who adopts her will have the rare privilege of watching a life unfold, from one of solitude and fear to a life of love and fun. Adopting beautiful Dinar will likely be one of the most worthwhile adventures you’ll ever have.
