Brando
More About Brando
Hello Brando! This boy is a very joyful, loving dog. Kisses are his way into your heart and he gives them freely. He has not, however, had very much experience with being just a regular make dog, and he needs a bit of observation and guidance before he will be ready for adoption. Keep your eye on Brando, he’s a real keeper, just not quite ready yet.
Updates
UPDATE 8/11/2025: I’m here to report the terrific progress Brando is making.
His life before kept him from enjoying the things most dogs take for granted. In the past weeks Brando has experienced a lot of what makes a dog a dog. He has learned to play with toys, although the squeaker has scared him, he still wants to play and enjoys playing with you and the toy.
Brando has learned that good behavior results in a treat and has adjusted quickly to life with people. His potty training is going nicely. With further encouragement and a watchful eye he has a better understanding that outside is where it belongs. Brando has also discovered squirrels and the kitty cat next-door. He alerts us to every movement in the yard that he hears or sees. Watch dog, yeah that’s him!
What Brando exudes is a dog who wants his forever home. He looks at you with pleading eyes, wanting to please you, wanting you to be his only one. He will bring so much joy to his forever family.
Brando is smart and has demonstrated his ability to understand, learning words that I repeat often. One day while outside with him I noticed he was panting. I pointed to the water bowl and said, “Brando go have some water” to my surprise he did. Then after a couple licks, he returned to me. I asked him again if he wanted more water. He looked at me, then at the bowl and walked over for more water. Coincidence? I just don’t think so. He pays attention he wants to please.
He loves walks and just being outdoors. Indoors he’s a curious dog, checking out the house and where the other dogs reside; getting used to things like the TV or the AC and the fridge when it kicks on. Everything is new to this guy and there’s so much more to experience!
For anyone considering a cairn who is still learning but eager to please, take a good look at Brando. This is a happy dog who wants to experience all of life that he has so far missed.
He will steal your heart!
UPDATE 7/14/2025: Brando is a joyful dog, always eager to go with you wherever you take him. He is full of curiosity as so many experiences are new and exciting to him. He really likes to be with his people and seems willing to please as long as you are patient as he learns.
Brando is stated to be 8 to 10 years old, but he does not appear or act in anyway like a senior dog. His eyes are bright and shiny. His teeth are bright white with fresh breath, his coat shines, but mostly he is a very, very extremely active boy for that age. He needs an active family life.
Brando is doing quite well with his manners, but still requires a belly band indoors. He does mark, so he still needs work with that.
Brando does not seem to suffer from any separation anxiety and stays quiet and calm where you have left him until you return. Brando is looking for that special someone who will love him and guide him to the better boy that we know he will be.
