More About Bagby

Bagby is a conundrum… sometimes a sweet old boy who appears to have been someone’s baby at one time: reliably housetrained, knows several commands; follows me everywhere and accepts pets; but appears to have been deeply affected by his life on the streets, finding his food, protecting himself night and day. He must be sedated for grooming and if surprised, in pain or handled for exams/grooming – he will react. He gets along most of the time with other dogs, but will sometimes challenge. Bagby is a sweet old boy; with issues, his call name is Mudgeon, as in curmudgeon.

Updates

UPDATE 6/20/2024: Bagby is quite a personality…a sweet grumpy, little old man who follows his person everywhere, accepting treats and pets respectfully, as long as he knows and trusts you; also a curmudgeon who will NOT be accepting if he does not know/trust you. His call name in foster care is Mudgeon, in honor of his distinct personality. He was recently groomed, shaved to his knickers, a decided different look from what his normal, quite dense coat; suspect not one gene of terrier in there. “Mudge” is a quiet keeper generally unless someone comes to visit, then quite barky until they have a seat, then he may curl up for a nap. Sometimes he is accepting of other dogs, whether home dogs or visitors, and sometimes not; he could care less about toys, but birds or bunnies in the yard, he will snatch for a snack in a heartbeat! For a senior, he is agile and quick, loves walks and garden time, is responsive to commands (knows some ASL commands) and is seldom more than 5-feet from his person, a bit of a velcro-dog. When you talk to him, he will gaze at you like he understands every word said, sometimes will crawl into you lap for a cuddle or a snooze. Would you be accepting of a curmudgeon to cuddle… his name is Bagby.
