Helen Davidson

On January 28, 2007, Helen Davidson, an active CPCRN volunteer, passed away. Her unexpected death hit many of us very hard. We are making a Heart Quilts for our friends for heart rending circumstances. We surely cannot deny that Helen's passing was exactly that for Charlie - and for us all.

Liz feels that Charlie would truly appreciate a quilt from us - so once again I am putting a call out for blocks. I haven't lined up a quilter yet to put it together (so if you are interested in doing this work - please contact me). We will collect blocks in February and March - I will do the collection. I will send the blocks to our as yet unnamed quilter at the end of March for a late March/ Early April delivery of the finished quilt.

As with all group quilts, we need folks to make similar sized blocks - and as with all heart quilts - you have your own choice of block to make. See the rules at the bottom to know the size to make your block.

Binding and Sashing will be in Dark Green. The backing is an all terrier pattern - it has cairns, but also Scotties - Helen had previously had scotties.

Helen_Davidson_QuiltCharlie Davidson received Helen's beautiful heart quilt on what would have been Helen's birthday. He was very moved by the kindness and love you all showed him and the quilt is on the bed in Helen's office. Thanks again to all the quilters who did an incredible job. The photos do not do it justice! (This one was taken in my home before it was given to Charlie.)

Hugs, Liz

Helen made the BEST SHORTBREAD EVER... she brought it to parties, sent it along on transports, and made it for our yearly Yum Yum Bake Salefundraiser. She generously shared her recipe with us for our CPCRN cook book - 'Your Culinary Companion' (page 424). We are sharing it here - make some, and smile for Helen.
